Why are emails often requested by reporters? Because they reveal so much. About the authors. About relationships. About the organization(s) involved.

And emails are available.  As the Nevada Independent reported in 2018, government employees’ emails  are public record – EVEN IF THEIR OWN DEVICES ARE USED.

“The Nevada Supreme Court has ruled that personal devices, such as cell phones or data stored on a server, used by public officials are subject to disclosure rules under the state’s public records law.”

“In a unanimous decision published Thursday, the state’s highest court reversed a decision by Washoe County District Court Judge Steven Kosach denying a records request for any communications made by public officials on official business on their own private devices, even if the device is not provided or owned by the government agency.”

In 2018, IVGID tried to claim attorney client privilege by cc’ing its attorney, and residents wound up paying $77,457.85.  You can search those emails using this link.  “Simply CCing an attorney on an email does not necessarily mean that the email is protected by the attorney-client privilege.” explains the Office of the General Counsel at DePaul University.

With that introduction, read the emails below carefully.

Tim Callicrate is Chair of the Board of Trustees.  He filed to be on the 2022 ballot, even though he was term-limited by the Nevada Constitution. A judge ruled his name should be removed.

At the 2022 Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor, multiple residents saw Tim Callicrate and Trustee candidate Gail Krolick have a conversation with golf club members. Callicrate told them they should not vote for candidate Ray Tulloch, as he would raise golf rates at the Championship Golf course and fire Indra Winquest, the  IVGID General Manager. He told them to tell other golfers as well.  

Sara Schmitz was elected to the IVGID Board of Trustees in 2020, after appointment by the Washoe County Commissioners in 2019 due to a trustee resignation.

Josh Nelson is the IVGID counsel from Best, Best & Krieger. BB&K was the legal firm for the City of Bell, California, one of the best known municipal corruption scandals.

The emails were part of a public records request;  Note the REDACTED in the Bcc field. Why was this recipient redacted? How could this be “confidential”?These emails speak for themselves.
